I Just had spinal surgery and they had to use cadaver bones. I did not have enough pelvic bone. There is a 50% chance that the fusion will not take. Mine is higher to fail because of the stress I am under and I was a smoker. I had to have immediate surgery because no Doc would listen to me(4 years) and my symptoms. If there was a way for them to use my body for the fusion the chance of sucess would be much higher. The Shriners Burn Institute has done wonders growing skin from your own body with out using stem cell research, there is always away to do this without harm to fetus's. Sincerly, Wendy B. You do not have to use a fetus. One can harvest their own stem cell from their own bodies, i.e. hip, blood, fat. This is being done in Germany, Portugal, Costa Rica, China and Mexico. Why are we keeing this from people who need this treatment now? They have had sucess with cancer, spinal cord injury, blindness, parkinson's, alzheimers and many more health problems. Many of these people have testified before the senate. It is not like we have to re-invent the wheel. This treatment is available, now.
