Also a note for the natural henna users............some of the natural pastes are mixed with black walnut oil, which can cause allergic reactions on children or anyone who has a nut allergy!

it also should be noted that the eucalyptus oil is used might be a problem for some also

Natural Henna Is Safe to use and look really nice but black henna is mixed with chemicals and not natural looking. The best way to be safe is to ask if it is natural and not mixed with anything

I'd like to make a couple simple corrections.

"Natural henna used for temporary tattoos is made from leaves of the lawsonia inermis plant, which provides a vegetable coloring that comes in shades of brown, green or red. Temporary coloring (dyeing) of the skin with natural henna is considered harmless and only lasts for a few days."

Lawsone does not dye in shades of green. Only in the red, orange, brown range. Henna itself is greenish brown because it's made of leaves, but it cannot create green "tattoos."

Also henna can, in fact, dye the skin for weeks at a time, and do so safely. PPD is added in order to achieve a darker color quicker. PPD laced henna will be black almost instantly with little care. Natural henna requires a several step process and involves more time an effort to get the best results.

The best way to know if an artist is offering a safe temporary tattoo is to ask what color the tattoo will be as soon as the paste comes off. PPD laced tattoos will be brown or black right away, and natural henna will only be orange. It takes about two days to deepen into a chocolate or burgundy color.
