Pharmacies that Sample Myo-Med See Increased Sales Over Competition
As they say, “The proof is in the pudding.” In this case it’s in the new topical, anti-inflammatory cream Myo-Med (www.myomed.com). Myo-Med generally sells its pain cream in 3 oz. tubes. Last year they started taking their product to retail consumer shows in 16 oz. pump bottles for people to try. The pump bottles proved to be such a success, that the company labeled them with “Try Me” stickers and started placing them on retail counters wherever they could. The company’s 2008 sales results show a marked increase in sales at locations where “Try Me” sampler bottles were put on the shelf.
According to Tim Hewlett, V.P. of sales for Myo-Med, the company had originally intended the pump bottles exclusively for healthcare use in chiropractic, massage, and physical therapy clinics. Their use at retail shows had started as a way to quickly demonstrate the mild scent and lack of burning sensation compared to other creams on the market.
“What really got us thinking about the ‘Try Me’ concept,” said Hewlett, “was at shows when people with arthritis would rub some on a hand or on a knee and then come back in 20 minutes asking to buy a tube. This kept happening over and over. We thought, ‘what if someone could try Myo-Med while waiting for prescription.’ We rolled out the self sampling from there.”
Myo-Med has now made a pump bottle a complimentary add-on for new store orders. A trend that seems to be driving sales better than any advertising campaign.
Myo-Med is available through select sports shops, pharmacies, health professionals and online. For more information, visit www.myomed.com to find retail location and online options.
